The English Teacher is responsible for teaching and instructing students in the English language, literature, writing, and related skills. The English teacher must create a positive learning environment, assess students’ abilities, develop lesson plans, and provide feedback to students and parents. The teacher must also stay up-to-date on changes in curriculum, technology, and teaching techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement lesson plans that cover the curriculum standards, learning objectives, and student needs
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage and motivate students
- Evaluate and assess students’ progress, provide feedback and grades to students and parents, and communicate regularly with parents on their child’s progress
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Provide individualized instruction to students who require additional support or enrichment
- Collaborate with other teachers, school administrators, and parents to support student learning and achievement
- Stay current with new teaching methods, technology, and curriculum standards
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education or related field
- Experience teaching English or related subject area at the appropriate grade level
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, and writing Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a classroom, engage students, and create a positive learning environment
- Knowledge of teaching methods and resources, including technology, to support student learning
